Privacy policy

What BetaDocta holds, what it deliberately does not hold, and what you can ask us to do about it. Written against Cameroon’s Law No. 2024/017 of 23 December 2024 on the protection of personal data.

The cheapest way to be safe with health information is not to hold it. So most of what you do on BetaDocta never reaches us at all — it stays on your own phone. This page says exactly which is which.

Last updated 12 September 2026. BetaDocta is in clinical testing before full launch.

What stays on your phone and never reaches us

These are kept in your browser’s own storage on this device. We cannot read them, and they are not on any server:

  • Every symptom check you run, and what it told you.
  • Your seizure diary, headache diary and blood-pressure readings.
  • Your medication list and adherence reminders.
  • Your Brain Health Check answers.
  • A screening you have started but not sent.
  • If you are a health worker: your own list linking a patient’s name to a case number.

The part of BetaDocta that reads what you type and works out what you mean also runs on your phone. Your words are not sent anywhere to be understood, and we do not use any outside artificial intelligence service.

What we do hold

Two things, and only because they cannot work any other way.

  • Your account. Your name, phone number, the language you prefer, your role, and the health facility you work at if you are a health worker. Without this there is no account.
  • A case you deliberately send to a specialist. When a health worker sends a hard case for a specialist opinion, that case reaches our servers. It carries a case number, the clinical details, and anything attached to it. It does not carry the patient’s name. The specialist answering it does not need the name; the health worker who sent it keeps that link on their own device.

Where it is stored, honestly

Today our servers are hosted outside Cameroon, with Supabase. We are telling you that plainly rather than leaving it out.

We have decided to move this into Cameroon, onto national infrastructure, and that work is planned and budgeted. Until it is done, the amount of information leaving the country is deliberately held to the smallest set described above: an account, and a case without a name. Everything else is on your phone.

When the move is complete we will say so here, with the date.

The lawful basis, and your consent

Cameroonian law treats health information as sensitive data. We ask for your consent separately from the terms of use, we ask for each purpose separately, and nothing is ticked for you in advance.

  • Care. Required. Using your health information to guide you and, if you choose, to reach a specialist.
  • Reminders. Optional. Medicine, follow-up and referral check-ins.
  • Anonymous statistics. Optional. Counts only, with nothing that identifies you, so gaps in care can be shown to health services. Saying no changes nothing about your care.

If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must give this consent. BetaDocta asks for that separately.

What you can ask us to do

  • See everything. Because your record is on your phone, you can export all of it to a file yourself, at any time, without asking us.
  • Erase everything. Same: one action on this device clears it. For the account and any case already sent, ask us and we will delete them.
  • Withdraw consent. At any time, from this page, without giving a reason.
  • Correct something. Tell us and we will fix it.
  • Object or complain. To us first, and to the national data protection authority once it is operating.

See how long each thing is kept

What we will never do

  • Sell your information, or let anyone advertise to you through it.
  • Put a danger sign behind payment or behind permission. If what you describe could be an emergency, we tell you to go to a hospital, immediately, whoever you are and whatever you have paid.
  • Send what you type to an outside artificial intelligence service.
  • Show a logo, a partnership or a clinician’s name that is not real.

If something goes wrong

If information is lost or exposed, we will say so: to the people affected, and to the authority, as quickly as we can establish what happened. We would rather tell you badly and early than neatly and late.
