Data usage policy

Patient data should be processed only for legitimate clinical, operational, and continuity purposes, with clear limitations and accountability.

This page explains how your data flows through BetaDocta, what is stored, how it supports your care, and how it is governed.

How your data supports care

  • We use what you tell us to make the platform more helpful to you. For example, if you have dealt with malaria before, your Follow-up & Education page can show you malaria advice first. Your information helps us understand how to best help you.
  • The symptom checker understands your words on your device. That text is not stored on our servers unless you choose to book and send it to a doctor.
  • The details you enter prepare your case so a doctor can review it efficiently and safely.
  • Your readings and notes build a timeline that makes follow-up clearer for you and your clinician.

Where data is stored

  • Your information is protected with encryption and strict access controls.
  • In production, data will be stored in secure, access-controlled databases with encryption and backups.

Data minimisation

  • We aim to collect only what is needed for your care and the platform's safe operation.
  • Optional fields stay optional; you remain in control of what you share.

Sharing and access control

  • Health records are visible only to you and clinicians involved in your care.
  • Cross-doctor access requires an explicit request and approval, recorded for accountability.

Retention

  • Medical records are kept as long as needed to support continuity of care and legal obligations, then responsibly removed.

Analytics

  • Any usage analytics are aggregated and non-identifying, used only to improve reliability and clarity.
These documents are reviewed regularly. If you have any questions about them, please contact our team.
