Most malaria can be treated. But some signs mean the illness is severe and needs a hospital now.
Go now if there is: fits or convulsions, very deep sleep or confusion, fast or hard breathing, or the person cannot drink or keep anything down.
In a child, watch for: not eating or drinking, vomiting everything, very weak or floppy, or yellow eyes.
Do not treat severe malaria at home. Do not wait for the morning. Every hour counts.
On the way, keep the person cool and on their side if they are not fully awake.
