Diarrhoea is dangerous for small children because they lose water fast and can dry out.
Give ORS (oral rehydration salts) after every loose stool. Mix one packet in clean water as shown.
If you have no ORS, make it at home: six level spoons of sugar and half a spoon of salt in one litre of clean water.
Keep feeding and breastfeeding. Give zinc for 10-14 days if advised.
Rush to hospital if the child cannot drink, vomits everything, is very weak, has sunken eyes, or blood in the stool.
