Cholera causes sudden heavy watery stool and vomiting. It can dry the body out fast and become deadly within hours.
It spreads through water and food dirtied by stool. Outbreaks happen in the rainy season and crowded places.
Drink only safe water. Wash hands with soap. Cook food well and cover it.
If someone has heavy watery stool, give oral rehydration salts (ORS) at once and go to a health centre fast.
Do not wait. With quick fluids, most people survive. Without them, cholera kills quickly.
