Breast milk is the perfect food for a baby. It protects against infection and helps the baby grow.
For the first six months, give only breast milk, no water, no other food. This is called exclusive breastfeeding.
Feed often, day and night, whenever the baby wants. This keeps your milk flowing.
After six months, add soft family foods but keep breastfeeding up to two years.
If feeding hurts or the baby is not gaining weight, ask a health worker for help early.
